give people their right to free creative expressions!
To get a better understanding
This report is carried out annually by Mimeta and partners. Mimeta also asks potential new partners to carry it out as part of the knowledge base about the partner, done in the spirit of learning to identify areas that require support for development. It has been designed based on Mimeta's interpretation of international culture and media sector development - and the strategy Mimeta works towards.
The basis for our efforts is the cultural rights and the right to freedom of expression. Strategically, we work with organizations that address these issues on behalf of their sectors. At the same time, we see, that changes cannot be achieved, unless the need for them is understood, embraced and advocated for by a community wider than the storytellers themselves, turning the stories into a widely adopted narrative for change. Storytelling is in this context also a tool for change. In this way, we work both for the universal rights that belong to the practitioners of storytelling and we see their free expressions as a prerequisite for making social changes.
The information you leave with us is in this form will be used for two purposes. One is to assess your activity, as one of other information sources for understanding your efforts (e.g stories, visual material, reports etc). The other is to generate some more general knowledge of the sector. Here we put the answers together as data and separate them from you as a specific source.
The form is comprehensive. We ask you to fill in answers were you have relevant information. If not - do not answer. Other questions are designed as statements you can disagree or agree with. We ask for sincere opinions that are closest to the realities of your organization.

I work carefully and imperceptibly below the surface when it comes to freedom of artistic expression. Deep down I stand by those who want to break it but remind them of realities above the surface. At the same time, the water becomes shallower. This is my duty as a producer. (Faisal Kiwewa, Bayimba, Uganda.)
