Art Map launched in Rwanda

Local artists have launched the I Art Rwanda Map, a platform that allows artists to present their art and communicate directly with art lovers inside and outside the country. The site, which was launched on Thursday, already has over 6,000 registered artists, and contains several areas and categories that will help art lovers find the kind of artists they need.
At its launch, Carole Karemera, co-founder of Ishyo Arts Center, said the platform is open to all artists, so they can locate their colleagues with whom they can work and learn. In addition, the I Art Rwanda Map will function as a link between the artists of the country and those of the diaspora. "Our channels of communication as artists in Rwanda are really close and to my knowledge, some of us have more access to some connections, some not. The idea is to join and add different institutions to help artists so that we can show people in Rwanda that we exist. We want people to stop ignoring where we are across the country, "said Carole Karemera.
She urged artists to actively use their creativity, to market their talents to improve their image and to make Kigali an art pillar. "We have to make sure that every part of the city is well represented by the artists and that there are shows in every part of the country. The government has a lot of local like the car-free zone that artists can use to showcase our arts, "Carole Karemera told the artists at the event.
