Support for boosting fact-checking activities in Europe

The European Media and Information Fund aims at supporting projects from independent fact-checking organisations, which play a key role in limiting the negative effects of disinformation on the public discourse and democratic processes. Only individual entities or organisations in a consortium located in the EU, EFTA and UK are eligible.

SEE THE CALL

Considering the situation in and around Ukraine, EMIF has decided to open a Special Funding Round for Urgent Actions within the call “Boosting Fact-Checking Activities in Europe”.

The European Media and Information Fund pursues objectives of public interest and provides grants, on a competitive basis, to researchers, fact-checkers, not-for-profits and other public interest-oriented organisations working on disinformation research and strengthening media literacy and fact-checking.

The Fund supports collaborative efforts to debunk disinformation, amplify independent fact-checking and enable targeted research and innovation tools designed to strengthen resilience, and the ecosystems response to disinformation.

Funding will be made available to organisations based in European countries, including namely the EU, EFTA and UK, and whose focus of activities is on the mentioned countries.

The European Media and Information Fund is established by the European University Institute and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Censorship in art, Artistic freedom, Art censorship, Freedom of expression

I work carefully and imperceptibly below the surface when it comes to freedom of artistic expression. Deep down I stand by those who want to break it but remind them of realities above the surface. At the same time, the water becomes shallower. This is my duty as a producer.

The short version

Mimetas vision is to give GIVE PEOPLE THEIR RIGHT TO FREE CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS, created on free terms and presented by independent institutions.

Our mission is to support and protect those who want to enhance a culture by aesthetic or intellectual means.

By both our vision and mission Mimeta highlight the impact arts have on developing open societies, including the culture itself and the political spfere.

On the strategic level Mimeta is acheiving results by supporting organisations and individuals who work on behalf of the arts, to improve the sectors´ position on rights issues, in political and legal matters, on professionalism and skills, the distribution of the arts and - in the end - the sustainability of the sector.

We call them the service providers to the arts.
