The 7th BAYIMBA season has come to an end, with an exciting 3rd edition of the regional networking and learning platform DOADOA | East African Performing Arts Market, a promising first-time Bayimba Regional Festival in Fort Portal, a thrilling 7th edition of the Bayimba International Festival and a successful premiering of the Kampala International Theatre Festival. We hope and believe that we managed to deliver yet again an exciting year-round experience, to old and new fans alike. 

WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2015?

Festivals | Events

The 8th BAYIMBA season is knocking on the door, In 2015, we will aim to further the success of the annual Bayimba International Festival, scheduled to take place from 18th to 20th September 2015. This festival will again be proceeded by a range of festivals upcountry - in Gulu (4th April), Fort Portal (6th June) and Mbale (4th July) - to scout and develop local talents. In May 2015, we will host the fourth edition of DOADOA | East African Performing Arts Market in Jinja, Uganda where we expect a record number of delegates attending from the region and beyond. 2015 will also witness the second edition of the Kampala International Theatre Festival that will take place from 25th to 29th November 2015. Throughout the year and under the umbrella of the Youth & Hip Hop programme we will also stage a number of special Hip Hop events in Kampala. Finally, in 2015 we will also venture, together with our local film partners, to bring Amakula back to the scene and screen. Tune in to our various websites, Facebook pages and Twitter for more information coming your way soon!

Education | Training

Apart from our festivals and events, we will continue to organize a range of arts education trainings (seminars, master classes, workshops) under the umbrella of Bayimba Academy. Sign up for the special Bayimba Academy newsletter to receive special notifications about upcoming training opportunities. We will also continue to roll out the Youth & Hip Hop programme that now includes Moroto, Soroti, Arua, Kitgum and Lira. As a learning organisation we continue to provide space to interns and volunteers to join the Bayimba team, for us to learn from them and for them to gain experience. If you are interested in taking on an internship or volunteer position, please do not hesitate to indicate your interest and to submit your profile together with a motivation.
